Adding unreconciled bank lines from Xero
The bank lines still waiting in Xero's Reconcile screen don't sync automatically. Here's why — and how to bring them in so your cash flow is complete.
Why this exists.Xero won't share bank lines that are still sitting in Reconcile — money that's hit the bank but hasn't been coded to a transaction yet — so we can't pull them in automatically. You'll see the gap when the account's Statement Balance and Balance in Xero differ, or the Reconcile tab shows a count. Add those lines here and your unreconciled list, and your at-bank position, stay complete.
Just a few?
Use Add bank line — type the date, amount and description for each one.
A whole list?
Use Add many — paste from Xero — copy the rows out of Xero and paste them in one go.
Getting the lines out of Xero
In Xero, go to Reports → Bank Reconciliation. In the Contents dropdown at the top, choose Bank Statement.
Set the Bank Account, set Statement lines to include to All statement lines, then click Update. The Reconciled column shows Yes/No — a No is a line that's hit the bank but isn't reconciled in Xero yet.
Click More → Export and save it as CSV or Excel. Then come back here, open Import a Xero reconciliation report, and upload the file — only the Reconciled = No lines are added, and anything already in Xero is skipped.
Once you code a line in Xero and sync, its manual copy clears itself automatically — no double-counting.
